Liberal Arts at the Peabody Conservatory
Liberal Arts play an important role in Peabody's undergraduate humanities program. Most of Peabody's liberal arts courses are interdisciplinary in nature and encourage students to formulate, explore, and express their ideas. These classes rely heavily on student input and class participation; they demand creative thought within the context of disciplined study. Students in Peabody's liberal arts courses are forced to confront issues of relevance to their lives as artists, teachers, and citizens in the twenty-first century.
A new "Humanities Seminar" launches off the first year program. After completing this one-semester course, students choose among a range of classes to complete their requirement. Classes offered at the Homewood campus of Johns Hopkins University are also available to Peabody students. New humanities requirements are implemented with this school year. Postings explaining the requirement in full will be available soon.
