William Davenport, tenor, is in his third year at the Peabody Conservatory and expects to graduate in the spring. He most recently performed with Glimmerglass Opera as a member of the Young American Artists Program for the summer festival season. In previous years Mr. Davenport performed the roles of “Alfredo” in La Traviata, “Tamino” in Die Zauberflöte, and “Le théière/La rainette,” in L’enfant et les Sortilèges all with Peabody Opera Theater. He also sang the tenor solos in Puccini’s Messa di Requiem, and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with the Peabody Singers and PCO. This spring he will be performing the role of “Alfred,” in Peabody’s production of Die Fledermaus as well as ”Rodolfo” in La Boheme with Chesapeake Concert Opera.

MARGARET (MAGGIE) FINNEGAN MM2
 

Soprano Maggie Finnegan hails from the Monterey Peninsula, California.  She is thrilled to be working towards her Masters of Music degree here at Peabody in the studio of Stanley Cornett. She earned her Bachelors of Music at the Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Edith Bers. Most recently Ms.Finnegan was studying voice with Professor Robert White of the Juilliard School in New York.  Recent credits include First Spirit in Die Zauberflote with New Jersey Opera and Project Opera Manhattan, Pip-squeek in Manhattan School of Music's Educational Outreach opera If The Shoe Fits, and Edith (Cover) in The Pirates of Penzance with New Jersey Opera.  Ms. Finnegan was seen as Satirino in Peabody Baroque Opera's recent production of La Calisto, and continues to perform as Gretel in Peabody Outreach's production of Hansel and Gretel.  Upcoming engagements include Anna Freud in Peabody Chamber Opera's production of Dora.

BRITTANY HOGAN MM2

Soprano Brittany Hogan is thrilled to begin her second year at Peabody. Last year, Brittany was seen as the “Fox” in Janacek’s The Adventures of Sharp-Ears the Vixen with the Peabody Opera Theatre.

 

Originally from High Point, North Carolina, Brittany graduated Cum Laude from Furman University where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance while studying with Dr. Trudy Fuller.  During her time at Furman, Brittany was the recipient of a Furman music scholarship and the Helen E. League and Margaret E. Ulmer Voice scholarship. She was an active member of the internationally renowned Furman Singers and the Furman Opera Theatre.  She covered the role of Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosí fan Tutte, and performed roles in a number of opera scenes, including the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro,and 2nd Lady in Die Zauberflöte.  Brittany was also a featured soloist in Handel’s Messiah and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy. 

 

In 2006, Brittany was given the opportunity to study at the Accademia dell’ Arte in Arezzo, Italy.  While in Italy, she performed in a variety of recitals and masterclasses, and studied with international soprano, Francesca Francalanci. 

 

In addition to opera, Brittany has performed roles in numerous musical theatre productions, including Anna in The King and I, Laurey in Oklahoma!, Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors and Nellie in South Pacific. 

 

Brittany is currently a second-year Masters student at The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, where she studies with Dr. Stanley Cornett. In March 2010, she can be seen as the role of Rosalinda in J. Strauss' Die Fledermaus with Peabody Opera Theatre.

 

KATHERINE KRUEGER BM4 TRANSFER

Soprano Katherine Krueger began her studies in 2000 at the age of fourteen with Soprano Julie Kae Sigars in Mukelteo Washington. Ms. Krueger is currently a student at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University pursuing a BM in voice under Dr. Stanley Cornett. She has participated in master classes with renowned singers such as Gidon Saks and Marni Nixon. Ms. Krueger performed with the Henry M Jackson High School choral groups from 2000-2004 as well as the Washington State All State chorus for three consequtive years. In 2004 Ms. Krueger placed first in the Washington State Music Educators Asociation Solo and Ensemble Contest in the Mezzo Soprano division. Also in 2004 Ms Krueger began attending Shoreline Community College where she studied voice under Catherine Treadgold and piano under Tamara Friedman and Dr. Charles Enlow.  During her time at Shoreline Community College, Ms. Krueger performed as a member and as a soloist numerous times with the Chamber Chorale and Shoreline Singers including a tour of eastern and southern Spain in 2006. Ms Krueger has performed in numerous musical theatre productions in the Seattle area. Some of her favorite roles include “Sonia”(the widow) in The Merry Widow, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, “Witch” in Hansel and Gretel, and “Fiona” in Brigadoon.

SOLEN MAINGUENE, BM4 (ALSO WITH BRYN-JULSON)


Lyric Soprano Solen Mainguené was born in Lyon, France in 1988. She started singing at the age of eight with the Choeur d'Enfants de Bretagne, performing as soloist for 10 years. She joined La Maitrise de Saint Vincent, a middle school chorus program, where she received vocal technique training from Anne Claire Blandeau, alumna of Le Conservatoire de Paris. She joined Le Conservatoire de Rennes at the age of 15, in the studio of Martine Surais from Le Conservatoire National de Paris, in addition to her high school studies. Ms. Mainguené moved to Virginia in 2005, where she studied with Amanda Balestrieri, alumna of the Royal School of Music. She was also part of the Charlottesville High School Orchestra (CHSO) program as a cellist. Ms. Mainguené is starting her Junior year at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University in the studio of Phyllis Bryn-Julson and Stanley Cornett. She was awarded a scholarship from the Peabody Institute, the Vocal Arts Society of Virginia, the Virginia Lions Club Bland Memorial Music Competition, and the Keswick Studio. Her performances as soloist include The Ceremony of Carols by Britten, Messe de Minuit by Charpentier, Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Les Litanies a la Vierge Noire by Poulenc, Beatus Vir by Vivaldi with the Choeur d'Enfant de Bretagne, as well as the Bachianas Brasileras by Villa Lobos with the CHSO. She made her recital debut at Peabody in the spring of 2007. Her Operatic performances include: the role of the Mother in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors in 2006, the role of Susanna in an abridged version of The Marriage of Figaro with the Keswick Studios in 2007 and the role of Catherine in Marriage by Candlelight (upcoming production in October of 2009). Her performance of the role of Pamina in the Peabody Opera’s  mainstage production of Die Zauberflöte last spring was declared “ bright, strong and expressive” by the Baltimore Sun.  Solen was also a chorus member in Peabody’s Opera Production of Les Contes d'Hoffmann (in the spring of 2007) and La Traviata (upcoming production in the spring of 2009). Ms Mainguené was an invited guest artist to perform for the French Ambassador in Georgetown in the District of Columbia. During her free time, she enjoys playing the cello, and visiting her family living in Greece.

Michael Rainbow, Tenor, is a first year Graduate Student studying with Stanley Cornett. He hails from Wilmington, Delaware and completed his Undergraduate work at Valley Forge Christian College with a B.S in Music Education & a B.A. in Voice Performance. Before attending Peabody he studied under Mrs. Sandra Carney and Mr. David Jones. While at Valley Forge Michael was featured in such roles as Tamino in Die Zauberflote and Kasper in Amahl and the Night Visitors- and Opera Scenes as Rodolfo in La Boheme, Fabrizzo in Light in the Piazza, and Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore. Michael has also been a regular soloist in the greater Philadelphia area in such works as Orff's Carmina Burana, Handel's Messiah, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Mozart's Requiem & Coronation Mass, and Puccini's Gloria. He has been a recipient of the Brian Dumbchik Award, Dick Curry Scholarship, and the VFCC Premier Vocalist (1st Place 04-08). Outside of school Michael has been part of the Philadelphia Singers Chorale, the Ambler Chorale Society (Soloist), AND the St. Johns Providence Chamber Orchestra & Choir (Soloist). He now teaches at Noteworthy Music Academy in Fallston, MD as a voice teacher.

Soprano Katherine Woodward is a first-year graduate student studying with Stanley Cornett. Born in Ocean Springs, MS, Katherine has lived all over the country but calls Spartanburg, SC home. Katherine graduated from Converse College with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance after studying with Dr. Beverly Hay for four years. While at Converse, Katherine performed multiple roles with the Converse Opera Theatre mainstage productions, including Angelica in Suor Angelica, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus and Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro. Katherine also performed in the scenes programs as Ellen in Peter Grimes and The Prince in Cendrillon. Also at Converse, Katherine performed with the Spartanburg Festival Chorus and was a featured soloist in the performance of Mozart’s Mass in C minor. Outside of school, Katherine participated in Opera Festival di Roma in the summer of 2007, performing the role of Angelica in Suor Angelica at San Paolo entro la Mura. She was also the music teacher at the Fine Arts Day Camp in Spartanburg, SC for 3 years. Katherine can be seen in March as Violetta in the second act of Peabody Opera’s production of La Traviata.
