The Peabody Preparatory announces an opening

for a Part-Time Cello Teacher

POSITION:  Cellist to teach cello in the division of the Suzuki-based Young People’s String Program (YPSP) and the Cello Department at the Peabody Preparatory, a division of the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD.  Specific needs are to teach a YPSP cello group class on Saturdays at the downtown campus.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree or equivalent experience and training preferred. Must love working with young children.  Extensive experience teaching Suzuki repertoire and comfort in teaching repertoire outside of and beyond the Suzuki books preferred.  Group class teaching experience and Suzuki certification strongly preferred.

DUTIES:  Teach YPSP cello, participate in YPSP Faculty meetings.

START:  Fall 2008.

COMPENSATION:  Dependent upon experience.
