Annapolis Opera is pleased to invite applicants to participate in the 2010-2011 Season Auditions and the 22nd Annual Vocal Competition.
Auditions for the 2010-11 Season will be held on January 8 & 9 at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia and January 22 and 23 at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis. Applications will be accepted until November 20, 2009. For complete information and to apply visit www.annapolisopera.org.
Annapolis Opera 's 22nd Annual Vocal Competition semi-finals will be held April 30 and May 1st 2010. the Finals Concert will take place on May 16, 2010. There will be a preliminary round via CD review in Mid-January, 2010. For further information please see our visit our web site at http://www.annapolisopera.org/
SCHOLARSHIPS
There is a scholarship available to American singers called the “Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship” and it is connected with the Fondation des Etats-Unis through the Cite Universitaire (in the 14th arrondissement). The scholarship for 8500 Euros for a school year (housing is included at the Cite Universitaire and free classes in French if desired). This enables the singer to live at the Cite Universitaire, take lessons in Paris, and pursue audition/performance opportunities in Europe.
The only requirement is that each person needs to perform about 2 recitals for the year, repertoire to be chosen by the singer. For more information, please visit www.feusa.org. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2010.

Académie européenne de musique 2010
Vocal Academy
In 2010, the Academie européenne de musique is inviting emerging professional singers for two residential courses in Aix-en-Provence in June and July. The singers will take part in an intensive program of classes, rehearsals and masterclasses, some of which are public. They will also have the opportunity to perform in front of the public as part of the Academy’s program of recitals given in Aix-en-Provence and the surrounding area.
Mozart Academy
Dates: June 9 to June 24, 2010

·Emmanuelle Cordoliani, stage director, teacher at the Conservatoire National de Paris

Chamber Music residency
Each summer, the Académie européenne de musique welcomes professional chamber music ensembles for a residency. These ensembles come to Aix-en-Provence with the aim of perfecting their skills and studying new pieces with internationally renowned musicians. In Aix-en-Provence, the selected ensembles benefit from a high public profile and ideal working conditions. They are plunged into the heart of the Festival in order to develop the professional and musical contacts vital to their careers.
Dates: July 8 to July 21, 2010
Tutors: chamber music teachers and one composer (Jonathan Harvey)
Participants: 4 professional ensembles
Atelier Opéra en Création – Opera in Creation Workshop

First session: from June 26 to July 3, 2010
The Academy has set up a unique workshop for creators involved in opera (composers, writers, directors, choreographers, set designers, stage designers and video directors …) in order to focus on contemporary opera and to give all the different artists involved the opportunity to work together. The participants will take part in a program of debates, meetings and conferences lead by renowned artists, composers, directors, stage designers, librettists, set designers and opera singers.

Second session: from July 5 to July 18, 2010
The second session is a practical workshop on opera creation for two teams (composer/ stage director …)
Opera Production 2010: Un Retour
For 2010, the Aix-en-Provence Festival and the Ensemble Musicatreize have commissioned an opera to the composer Oscar Strasnoy, Un Retour.

Terms of application
Financial terms for the Academy
- Application fee ( for singers only ) : 30 €
- Courses are supported by the Academy
- Accommodation is organized and paid for by the Academy
- Meals : the artists receive a daily allowance from the Academy
- The artists organize and pay for their travel expenses
(The Academy will refund the travel expenses exceptionally only on duly justified grounds)
