What is a "text-based" class?
In this context "text" does not mean 'text book.' Rather, it refers to a certain kind of document or artifact that can serve as the basis for study and exploration. A text-based class prods you to confront ideas through direct encounter with significant literary, philosophical, religious or other critical or aesthetic expressions. Works of art can serve as texts in this sense.
