How Do I Logon to JHED?
JHED (Johns Hopkins Enterprise Directory) is the on-line source for address, telephone, e-mail and other contact information for students, faculty and staff at the Johns Hopkins Institutions.

You will need your JHED ID to access e-mail, personal web space, and other JHU online resources.
To Logon to JHED:
- Go to http://jhed.jhmi.edu or my.jhu.edu
- Perform a Search for yourself.
- Click where it says Click Here to login.
- Perform a First Time Login. You will be asked to provide information to verify your identity.
- Create your password.(See Below for passpwrd guidelines)
Password Guidelines (Updated June 2005 !)
When you create or reset your e-mail password, please follow the following guidelines:
- Passwords must contain at least two non-alphabetic characters. For example, digits (0-9) or symbols.
- Passwords must be at least 8 characters long and no longer than 40 characters.
- Your new password may not be the same as any of your most recent passwords.
- Passwords will expire if not changed within 180 days. You will receive one or more pop-up reminders on this system as the expiration date approaches.
- In order to update your new password, you must verify your current password and choose a new password.
- Once you change your password you will need to wait at least 1 day before changing your password again.
- Passwords should not contain the characters " or '.
Other Helpful Tips
- Make your password easy to remember but hard for others to guess. Do not write it down!
- Combine letters, numbers or other characters and change your password regularly.
- Do not use your name, login name, address, date of birth, Social Security Number or a word from the dictionary.
- Do not use the same password on all accounts. If all of your passwords are the same, then an individual who has broken into one of your accounts can access all of them.
- Do not share your password with anyone.
If you are accessing JHED from outside the Hopkins network, you will need to call (410) 955-HELP to find out your LID, as student information is suppressed on the Internet.
