MM/MTP Alumni
Michele Cabrini (1998) completed his undergraduate degree in violin performance at Peabody. During is time at Peabody, he taught at the nearby High School for the Performing Arts. He also taught in our undergraduate theory sequence after completing his degree. Michele is currently completing a PhD in Musicology from Princeton University and teaching at Haverford University.
Christine Shuart (1998) completed her undergraduate degree at Hamilton College. While at Peabody, Christine completed the MM•MTP and an MM in vocal performance. Christine taught in our undergraduate theory sequence after completing her degree. She also taught at nearby Towson University. Christine teaches at National Cathedral School, conducts the Fairfax Choral Society, and serves as Chorusmaster for the Cathedral Choral Society.
David Sullivan (2000) completed his bachelors degree in music at Dartmouth College. While at Peabody, David completed the MM•MTP as well as an MM in Computer Music (emphasis on research) and an MM in Composition. David taught ear-training at Peabody for four years, during which he was part of a subcommittee that wrote many of the MM•MTP guidelines found on these webpages. David is currently in the Ph.D. program in Music Theory at Harvard University.
Gavin Farrell (2001) completed his bachelors degree in jazz studies at the University of North Florida. While at Peabody, he completed the MM•MTP and an MM in percussion performance. Upon completing the degree, Gavin taught in our undergraduate theory sequence and at the Preparatory. Gavin is currently the Coordinator for Student Affairs for the Peabody Preparatory.
Sujin Matthews (2002) completed her undergraduate degree in organ at Yonsei University in Seoul, received an MM in organ from Towson University and then, the MM•MTP at Peabody. She is currently studying for the DMA in Organ Performance and serving as a Theory graduate assistant.
Nicholas Strauss-Klein (2003) completed an undergraduate degree in piano at St. Olaf College and taught high school in Switzerland before coming to Peabody to earn the MM•MTP. Nick taught in our undergraduate theory sequence and was the first person to teach in the new sequence of Peabody courses on the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus. Nick is currently in Jerusalem, where he is continuing his training in the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education.
Wen-Mi Chen (2003) earned her undergraduate degree in clarinet at Peabody. She completed the MM•MTP and a concurrent MM in clarinet performance. She is currently pursuing a doctorate at the University of Cincinnati, where she was accepted as a doctoral student in both clarinet and Music Theory; however she is completing her degree in clarinet with a cognate in Music Theory.
Justin Lavacek (2003) completed his undergraduate degree in Music Theory at Loyola University of New Orleans. While at Peabody, he taught Fundamentals of Music Theory and taught at the Peabody Preparatory en route to earning the MM•MTP. Justin was also active in the Peabody choruses and appeared in the Peabody production of Così fan Tutte. Justin is currently pursuing a PhD in Music Theory at Indiana University.
Asha Srinivasan (2003) completed an undergraduate degree in music at Goucher College (emphasis in composition & electronic music). She completed the MM•MTP and an MM in Computer Music Composition at Peabody. While at Peabody, she was a graduate assistant for the Computer Music Department and taught at the Prep and the Baltimore High School for the Performing Arts. She is currently a teaching fellow for Peabody courses at Johns Hopkins and teaches at the Peabody Preparatory.
Sarah Kuzmak (2004) earned an undergraduate degree in Music Education from Towson University. During her time at Peabody, Sarah taught Theory Fundamentals and introduced a new class in Ear-Training Fundamentals en route to the MM•MTP. She is also an accompanist who served in several Baltimore churches. Sarah is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Music Theory at the University of Massachusetts where she is studying aural skills and perception and cognition with Gary Karpinski.
