Last summer I returned to Chicago, where I did my graduate work. This view is from the top of my friend Barry's downtown apartment building.








Here's Barry with his wife, Jessica. Actually I know Barry from my home town in Connecticut, but he lives in Chicago.








A close friend from grad school, Hilary. The day of our visit was moving day for Hilary, who now teaches at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. I like this picture because it shows what a nice person she is.








Here's the house where I lived as a graduate student--it was built in 1897, one of several mansions in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. The owners, Pat and Jim, are standing in the doorway. The yard and carriage house to the right are also part of the property.








Here's the room I rented from the outside. The tenant was out of town so unfortunately I couldn't see my old room.








Here are Pat and Jim on the back porch. Two of the nicest people I've ever known.








Back in Connecticut, here are Mom and her fiancé, Bill, in our yard. They make a nice couple, don't you think?
