All Peabody students--graduates as well as undergraduates--can receive free help with their writing projects.

As long as you are working on a specific writing project you can obtain help from a Writing Consultant. Seek help at any stage: to get things rolling if you are having trouble getting started, or to polish something that is almost complete.

If you are struggling with your writing, work with a Writing Consultant will actually save time! Sessions are 40 minutes long. If you plan in advance, two or three working sessions with a Writing Consultant on successive days will make a big difference.

Remember, Writing Consultant cannot help you get started on a writing assignment if you have not been to class, not taken notes, or not read what's assigned! If you are severely behind in your course, you need a PEER TUTOR, not a Writing Consultant. Consult with your professor about this.

Different professors have different expectations. A Writing Consultant can better help you fulfill your professor's expectations if s/he reviews your assignment and whatever other guidelines you might have received in class. Plan to discuss these things during your consultation, so bring them with you to your consultation.

Find help one of two ways:

1. Students can find a Writing Consultant every Sunday and Wednesday evening between 7 pm and 9 pm on the second floor of the Music Library. This is our walk-in service.  (Click here to see which consultants will be in the library in coming weeks.)

2. Students can arrange a private consultation by contacting a Writing Consultant and setting up an appointment at a convenient time. To do this, identify a consultant whom you would like to contact, and then send him/her an e-mail note. It can't get much easier than this!!
