If your undergraduate program included four years of private lessons--culminating in a senior recital--and if you were a leader in performing groups, there is a good chance you will be accepted to Peabody. The figure we show as the acceptance rate for orchestral instruments can be misleading since it only includes applicants that actually perform an audition. Other schools count all application forms received, including "applicants" who withdraw or do not show up for their auditions. Also, most of our print material (and the document you are reading) is designed to help people determine if auditioning is a good idea. Our efforts have been successful, and the average acceptance rate is about 60%. The figure is different for each instrument, dropping below 20% for flute.
