Currently pursuing her DMA in Flute Performance, Kristin Bacchiocchi-Stewart is also on the flute and chamber music faculty at Peabody Conservatory of Music, and has previously served on the faculty of Frostburg State University, Schenectady County Community College, Ithaca College, the Savage Mountain Summer Chamber Music Series and Flauto Musicale. A member of TRITONIS (flute, cello, and guitar), she also frequently concertizes with guitarist Joel Brown, with percussionist Michael Zell and I Venti Semplice. As an orchestral musician, she has played with the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Catskill Symphony, and The Albany Pro Musica. She was a prize winner at the 2002 National Flute Association's Young Artist Competition, a participant in the First Beijing Nicolet International Flute Competition and a semi-finalist in the Myrna Brown and Ducrest Young Artist Competitions.

Ms. Bacchiocchi-Stewart received her M.M. from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and a B.M. from Ithaca College. She has participated in the Aspen Music Festival, the Colorado College Music Festival, and the Piccinini International Zurich Masterclass series. Her main teachers have been Marina Piccinini, Bradley Garner, Wendy Mehne, Claudia Anderson and Selma Moore.

 

A native of Seoul, Korea, flutist EunJin Raoul Cho began his flute studies at the age of eleven. While studying in Korea, Mr.Cho won first prize in many competitions including the Seoul Flute Association Competition, Kyung-Won University Competition and twice won the Ewha University Kyung-Hyang Newspaper Competition. Mr.Cho had a solo recital through the young artist program at Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, Korea and also performed in the Youth Music Festival and Winner’s Concert of Ewha Univ. Kyung-Kyang Newspaper Competition. Mr. Cho has participated in the 2003 Aspen Music Festival and the 2008 Fairbanks Arts Festival. Mr. Cho is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Music at Peabody University as a second year student. Former teachers include Jae-Young Bae, Mihi Kim Raffael Leone and Wolfgang Shultz.

 

JeeYoung (Rachel) Choe, a native of Seoul Korea, is pursuing her doctoral studies with Marina Piccinini at Peabody, where she received both Master of Music and Graduate Performance Diploma. She is the principal flutist of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra and performs actively in music festivals and recitals as a member of duoMare with guitarist Akiko Sumi. Currently, she is a flute faculty member at the Peabody Preparatory Division and has previously taught music theory at Peabody Conservatory.

Ms. Choe has appeared as a soloist with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony, the Ewha Symphony and the Ewha String Ensemble. She has toured more than 10 Asian countries as principal flutist with the Asian Youth Orchestra under Sergiu Comissiona and participated in Carnegie Hall’s orchestral workshop under Maestro David Robertson. Ms. Choe has attended the Norfolk, Orford, Bowdoin, Aspen Music Festivals and the Zurich International Masterclasses. 

She was the special presentation winner of the Artists International New York and a first prizewinner of the Korea Flutist Association, Chunchu Music, Ewha Concerto, Chosun Newspaper, and Seoul Youth Chamber Competitions. She was also a finalist of the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra Concerto Award. Ms. Choe holds a Bachelor of Music with honors from the Ewha Women's University in Korea.

 

Joon Hyuk Choi has performed in numerous prestigious venues including the Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and at the Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh. He currently studies flute as a Master of Music candidate under the guidance of Marina Piccinini at the Peabody Conservatory, and received his Bacheor's degree under the tutelage of Jeanne Baxtresser and Alberto Almarza at Carnegie Mellon University. Previous teachers include Laurie Sokoloff at the Peabody Conservatory, Soo-Kyung Park at the Manhattan School of Music Preparatory Division and Diane Spatalny in Chappaqua, NY.

 

Esther Choi began her flute studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and continued her musical education at the University of Toronto with Susan Hoeppner. She later studied with Jeffrey Khaner in Philadelphia and has joined the studio of Marina Piccinini for her graduate degree. She has performed in numerous masterclasses including those of Louis Moyse, Julius Baker, Emmanuel Pahud, Robert Langevin, Carol Wincenc, Peter Lloyd, Jeanne Baxtresser, among others. Ms. Choi has won numerous competitions including first place at Nationals of the 2007 Canadian Music Competition, and the UTSO Concerto Competition where she performed with the orchestra under the direction of Maestro Raffi Armenian. She has given recitals at the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto and was featured soloist with the Toronto Senior Strings. An active chamber and orchestral performer, Ms. Choi has performed under the batons of many conductors including Helmuth Rillings, Agnes Grossman and Sir Andrew Davis. She toured with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada this past summer under conductor Jacques Lacombe.

 

 Jeong-hyun Kim, a native of Korea is currently pursuing her DMA in Flute Performance with Marina Piccinini. She received her Master of Music at the Carnegie Mellon School of Music where she worked with Jeanne Baxtresser and Alberto Almarza. Previously, she studied with Kyung-wha Song and Mi-sun Lee at the Seoul National University . A member of Seoul Youth Philharmonic for four years, she has been a soloist with the Korean Symphony, Seoul Symphony, and the Seoul Youth Philharmonic and has performed in recital at Kumho Art hall. Jeong-hyun Kim has won prizes in several competitions such as the Pittsburgh Concert Society, the Joongang Newspaper competition, Pusan MBC competition, Kynghyang-Ewha music competition, the Chosun Music Newspaper competition, Monthly music magazine competition and Seoul Symphony orchestra concerto competition. She was selected as a 2006 Pi Kappa Lambda nominee.

 

SangAe Kim, a native of Korea, is a second year master of music degree student studying with Marina Piccinini. Previously she studied with HyeKung Lee,Young Mi Kim and Valentine Zvreve at the Korea National University of Arts. She has been a soloist with the Korea National University of Art Symphony, Paris Maissy Orchestra, Seoul Wind Ensemble and has performed in recital at Kum-ho Art hall. SangAe Kim has won prizes in several competitions such as Dae gu TBC Competition, Kyng-Hang &Ewha music Competitions and Busan MBC Competition. She was selected for the Eum-Yeon Summer Music Festival Coca-Cola scholarship. SangAe most recently won 1st prize in the Osaka International Music Competition.

 

 

Dariya Nikolenko is a senior at Peabody Conservatory where she studies with Marina Piccinini. A native of Russia, Ms. Nikolenko began her musical studies at the age of seven and made her first concerto appearance at the age of nine performing C.P.Bach concerto in d-minor. She graduated with honors from the College at Moscow State Conservatory where she studied with Pr. U. Dolzikov. Dariya has won many competitions, including first prize in the Unesco International Competition "New Names" in 2004; the International competition for flutists in Yalgava, Latvia, 1998; 2nd prize in the Beethoven Festival, Moscow, 2005, and the International competition in Novosibirsk,1999. In 2007 Dariya became a Semifinalist of Frank Bowen Young Artist Competition. She has performed with the Novosibirsk Philharmonic as well as concerts in St. Peterburg, Yulgava, Ekateringurg, Suzdal,Tchalabinsk, Omsk, and Tomsk. Dariya took part in the International Master classes with Marina Piccinini in Zurich, Switzerland, in 2004 and 2005. During the summers 2006 and 2007, Ms. Nikolenko participated in the Moritzburg Festival Academy in Germany. In November 2007 Ms. Nikolenko has played in master classes given by Emanuel Pahud and Jim Walker.

 

Russian flutist Anastasia Petanova began playing the flute at the age of four and continued her studies at the Central Music School of the Moscow State Conservatory with Uriy N. Dolzhikov. Ms. Petanova has performed in Russia, Austria, Great Britain, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany and the USA, including the Festival de Russe in Cannes and the Music Festival in Colmar . She has appeared as soloist with the Moscow Virtuosi and the Russian National Orchestra under Vladimir Spivakov on several tours both in Russia and abroad. She received her Bachelor of Music form the Peabody Conservatory of Music where is also currently pursuing her Graduate Performer's Degree under Marina Piccinini.

 

Elena Yakovleva began playing both piano and flute as a child in Kaliningrad, Russia and later graduated from the Rachmaninov Music College with Honors in Performance and Pedagogy. Elena continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold and at the Folkwanghochschule Essen, Germany, studying under Prof. Hans-Jörg Wegner and Prof. Gunhild Ott, and later, under Jeanne Baxtresser and Alberto Almarza as a Performance Residence Program student at the Carnegie Mellon University on full scholarship. Since 2006 she has been pusuing graduate studies at Peabody Institute with Marina Piccinini.

Currently, Elena holds the piccolo and third flute position with the Delaware Symphony, and has also played piccolo  with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, toured as a soloist and with the Rachmaninov wind quintet, the Traditional Russian Instrument Orchestra and the Kaliningrad Symphony Orchestra throughout Russia and Europe . She has performed in the Peabody “Side by Side” project with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Marin Alsop, participated in the Summer Opera Theatre of Washington, D.C. and the Blossom Festival. A scholarship recipient from the Russian Ministry of Culture, she was selected for the artist roster of Yehudi Menuhin's foundation "Live Music Now", has been a winner of the "New Names" Festival in Moscow , the "Villa Musica" Award, and in 2006 won 2nd prize in the New York Flute Club Competition.

 

Kimberly Zaleski, a native of New York State, began playing the flute at eight and piccolo at the age of ten. Currently in her second year of the Bachelor's of Music Program with Ms. Piccinini, she is a graduate of the Juilliard School's Pre-College division where she studied with Dr. Bradley Garner. Additional studies were with Renee Siebert, flutist of the New York Philharmonic, from 2004-2007. Ms. Zaleski has been a member of the Tanglewood Institute Wind ensemble, the New York State All-State Ensemble, and the New York State Summer School of the Arts Orchestra. At the age of thirteen she was the winner of the United States Military Academy Instrumental Competition and was also the first piccoloist ever to be featured on the nationally broadcast radio show "From the Top". She has participated in master classes with Sir James Galway, Julius Baker, Ransom Wilson, Kerry Walker, Trudy Kane, Susan Hoeppner, and Gary Shocker.
