Julie Kurzava
Julie Kurzava is a professional actor and singer, who has performed throughout the Mid-Atlantic, including the Olney Theatre, Cumberland Theatre, American Century Theater, Maryland Ensemble Theatre, Maryland Renaissance Festival and Annapolis Opera. A classically trained singer, she received her bachelor's and master's degrees in voice from Northwestern University and the Peabody Conservatory and teaches voice at Loyola College of Maryland and the Garrison Forest School. Julie is a member of Actors Equity Association (AEA) and the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA). Her on-camera debut was as the opera singer in the feature film Guarding Tess, and she has appeared in independent films, commercials and voice-overs, most recently for Maryland Public Television’s education website. She is a founder of New Moon Theater, a theater and opera company that tours to schools, libraries and other venues throughout the Mid-Atlantic. For New Moon Theater, she has created her one-person adaptation of traditional Japanese folktales, Minwa, and written three other original plays Leading Ladies: Women of Maryland, The Old Man and the Bay, and The Adventures of the Opera Explorers. An accomplished martial artist, she has trained in Aikido for the past 20 years. She lives outside Baltimore with her husband, Tom Zielinski and their three year old son, Matthew.
