Ballet

Laura Gurdus Dolid studied at the School of American Ballet (SAB) for six years where she was trained by Alexandra Danilova, Muriel Stuart, Stanley Williams and Antonina Tumkovsky. Upon graduation from SAB, she joined the Pennsylvania Ballet, and later became a member of Les Grands Ballet Canadiens in Montreal. Subsequently, she became a soloist with the Israel Ballet.

Ms. Dolid began her teaching career in Israel and, upon returning to the United States, joined the faculty of the Poughkeepsie Ballet Theater in upstate New York and the Harkness Ballet in New York City. Since coming to Baltimore in 1981, Ms. Dolid has developed the dance program at the Sudbrook Arts Centre, where she is Artistic Director. She expanded that program by co-founding the Baltimore County Youth Ballet (BCYB) in 1990, and establishing BCYB Summer Dance at the Sudbrook Arts Centre in 1995. In addition to her work at Sudbrook, Ms. Dolid has been on the faculty of Goucher College since 1981, and presently is on the faculties of UMBC and Peabody Dance.
