BM Wayne State University. Herris is currently a faculty member and music coordinator at the Goucher College Dance Department. He was a percussionist for 10 years with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. He was a freelance musician for 20 years in New York City in theater, jazz, and cabaret. He is the former principal percussionist for the Kansas City Philharmonic.
