AUDITION REQUIREMENTS IN VOICE
PRE-SCREENING in VOICE
UNDERGRADUATE VOICE: Three classical selections are required, at least one in English and one in a foreign language. Selections must be memorized, and should show a variety of styles and tempi. For undergraduate applicants intending to audition in person at Peabody, a pre-screening CD recording with three selestions must be submitted along with the application. Repertoire should follow the guidelines above.
GRADUATE VOICE: A short audio CD recording of two arias and a song (one in English) are required to be submitted along with the application for pre-screening. See the detailed audition requirements for each program listed below.
BACHELOR OF MUSIC
1. THREE pieces are required.
a. Please include one piece in English and one in a foreign language.
b. Show a variety of styles and tempi.
c. Must be memorized

MASTER OF MUSIC AND GRADUATE PERFORMANCE DIPLOMA
2. TEN pieces are required.
a. Please include three foreign languages and English in this audition.
b. Please show a variety of styles and include operatic and/or oratorio arias and recitative.
c. Must be memorized (except oratorio and/or complicated repertoire of the 20th/21st century.
d. For the MM in Early Music, please check the catalog, and/or contact the Early Music department.
e. For the GPD, a pre-screening tape is required with three pieces on it.

GRADUATE PERFORMANCE DIPLOMA IN OPERA
1. FIVE operatic arias and FIVE songs are required.
a. Please show a variety of styles in three foreign languages and English.
b. For Opera GPD, a video is required. Check the opera website for full information.

DOCTOR OF MUSICAL ARTS and ARTIST DIPLOMA
1. A FULL RECITAL is required. (Approx. 50 minutes of music)
a. This recital should demonstrate excellence in programming.
b. Repertoire in three foreign languages and English are required.
c. Repertoire should demonstrate a variety of styles.
* Please note the requirements below for the pianist/collaborator who will be playing your audition.
*The following is required by the voice department for our pianists/collaborators:
1. Copies MUST be legible, with all notes on the page, lined up properly, and clear.
2. No FAX copies.
3. Xerox copies are permitted but must be in a binder (no loose pages)
4. The pianist reserves the right to refuse to play if the above is not adhered to. The voice faculty may decide not to hear the balance of the audition as a result.
