CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR CURRENT STUDENTS
SEPTEMBER 2008
Baritone Jeffrey Williams sang Copland's Old American Songs with the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra on September 12, 2008 in Edgewater, Maryland. Conducted by Dr. Anna Binneweg, the season opening program entitled "Our Town - Happy Birthday Annapolis!", also featured orchestral works of Sousa, Copland, and Haydn.
APRIL 2008
Soprano Annie Gill will sing the role of Mimi in La Boheme at Opera in the Ozarks in June and July, 2008. She has also been selected as a young artist with Emerald City Opera in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and while there, will perform the role of Fiordiligi in a concert version of Cosi Fan Tutte. Ms. Gill recently completed a two-month engagement with the Washington Savoyards in Washington D.C. where she performed the roles of Edith (Mabel cover) in The Pirates of Penzance and Pitti-Sing in The Mikado. Later this month, she will sing the lead role of Mercedes/Countess de Morcef in the new musical, The Count of Monte Cristo, by Composer Ben Bernstein in Washington, D.C. Ms. Gill completed her MM in Vocal Performance at Boston University, her BM in Vocal Performance at Indiana University, and currently studies with Professor Steven Rainbolt at The Peabody Conservatory.

Jillian Goldin, soprano and senior in the studio of Phyllis Bryn-Julson, has won the "Ourstage.com March Music Finals Grand Prize" for the first track of her soon to be released album Hajime. She competed with over 30,000 applicants in this competition.
Elizabeth Dow, soprano and senior in the studio of Phyllis Bryn-Julson, took first place in the Straney Award Competition winning a monetary prize as well as an appearance with orchestra in July 2008.
Rebecca Bell, soprano and second year GPD student of Phyllis Bryn-Julson, was selected as a Semi-Finalist in the Elardo International Competition with finals occurring in New York in April. She was also cast as Lauretta with the Loudoun Lyric Opera.

Betsy Bates, soprano and student of Marianna Busching, will be the soloist in Poulenc's Gloria with the St. Mary's College of Maryland Choir and Orchestra on Sunday, April 13th.
Jessica Abel, soprano and student of Marianna Busching, will travel to Paris, France this April with the International Fusion Arts Ensemble to perform for the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Jessica will perform multiple original works by members of the ensemble, including the European premiere of selections from the song cycle, “Six Significant Landscapes,” written for her by Peabody composer Evan Rogers.
Jessica has also been invited to perform the role of Susanna in the 2008 BASOTI production of Le Nozze di Figaro.
Jessica Lennick participated in the Annapolis Opera Competition and received some very nice reviews in The Capital newspaper: soprano Jessica Lennick treated the audience to a gorgeous rendition of the poignant aria "Have peace, Jo" from Mr. Adamo's 1998 opera, "Little Women.". . . Ms. Lennick followed up her Adamo selection with a heartfelt "Ach, ich fuhl's" from Mozart's "The Magic Flute."
JANUARY 2008
Kevin Wetzel, baritone and student of Steve Rainbolt, won the Maryland District of the Metropolitan Opera Competition.
Kathryn Guthrie, soprano and student of Phyllis Bryn-Julson, has been accepted to the AIMS in Graz summer program for summer of 2008.
