Kevin Bao

Kevin Bao, currently a junior at Mount Hebron High School, plays piano, flute, piccolo, and guitar. At his school, he is first chair, playing flute, piccolo, and piano in the Wind Ensemble; he is also the pianist for the Dixieland Jazz Combo and the Jazz Ensemble. In addition, he is a section leader in the Marching Unit and first chair flute in both the Full Orchestra and the Show Orchestra. Outside of school, Kevin has played both flute and piano in various All-County and All-State bands. At Peabody, he currently studies with Rachel Choe and plays flute and piccolo in the Peabody Youth Orchestra.
Katie Byrne

Katie Byrne has been studying as a preparatory student at Peabody for the last 2 years. She has also been actively involved in her high school symphonic band for the last 5 years. Currently, she is the second chair in the FRYO Philharmonic Orchestra for flute. This upcoming spring, Kaitlin will also be playing in the pit for her high school play
Les Miserables.
Jungeun Choi
Jungeun Choi started playing the flute when she was in the third grade. She began her studies with Amy Cavazos and Chul Lee and presently studies with Rachel Choe at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. Ms. Choi was 2nd chair in her middle school's District Band, and she played with the Amercan Youth Concert Orchestra from 8th to 10th grade. She placed third in the Senior Division of the Student Honors Competition at the Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair in 10th grade. She is currently a member of the Peabody Youth Orchestra. She is a junior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
Gina Kim
Jin-ah (Gina) Kim is a senior at Thomas Jefferson HS for Science and Tech in Alexandria, VA. She has been studying at Peabody preparatory with Rachel Choe since December 2006. Gina has participated in many honor bands including All-district XI band, Senior Regional Orchestra, and All-Virginia Band throughout her high school years. She is also currently a member of the flute section in American Youth Philharmonic under the direction of Luis Haza.
Ara Ko

Ara Ko started flute when she was in the 4
th grade. She has been studying at Peabody Preparatory for last 3 years. She has been selected to perform at the Peabody Preparatory brass and winds departmental recitals. Currently, she is the second chair flutist in her middle school’s concert band.
Grace Min
Grace Min, a native of Seoul, Korea, started playing the flute at the age of 14. She was a member of Global Mission Church Youth Orchestra for 2 years and has performed music in Mexico and Thailand with the orchestra. She was a co-principal flutist of American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and principal flutist of Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra. She was the winner of American Fine Arts Festival and has performed twice as a soloist and duet at Carnegie Hall as a winner of AFAF. She was also a winner as a duet at New Praise competition and performed at German Culture Centre. Now she is currently a member of Peabody Youth Orchestra.

Ebonie Pierce

Ebonie Sherrelle Pierce is a 3
rd year flute player at the Hazelwood Elementary Middle School in Baltimore Maryland. She has performed during many Hazelwood school programs as part of the Instrumental Music Band under the direction of Ms. Rochelle Montagne. In Fall of 2007 Ebonie was the recipient of the Tuned-In scholarship Program at Peabody Preparatory and started lessons at Peabody Preparatory under the instruction of Ms. Rachel Choe. Ebonie performed during the Peabody Woodwind Recital in the summer of 2008 and also gained a wealth of knowledge during that summer in ‘The Complete Musician’ class also at Peabody Preparatory. She performed in the Spring 2008 All City Honors Band Concert @ Morgan State University and successfully auditioned to compete in the Maryland Music Educators Association All-State Solo Competition at Towson State University. She was featured in the Fall 2008 issue of the Peabody Magazine where the Tuned-In program was highlighted in the article headed “Now Run With It” by Mat Edelson.
Ebonie, a second year recipient of the Tuned-In scholarship, is a vibrant 12 years old 7th grader and a consistent honor roll student with interests that include math, reading, and ice-skating.

Yoonju Cho
Yoonju Cho (MSE '07, BS '05) is a 2nd year PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. She initially learned flute in middle school for 3 years but had to quit in high school due to school work. This September, after 11 years of break, she finally re-started her flute lessons. Yoonju admits that it was not easy to start it all over from the scratch after such a long time-off but flute has become a nice break from all the science and engineering of her life.
Catherine Klein
Catherine Klein has been playing the flute for 25 years, and studying flute with Rachel Choe in January 2007. She often plays at her church, St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Churh in Maryland. She lives in Hampstead MD with her husband, Scott. Her other hobbies include gardening and cake decorating. She has worked for the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health since 1992 and is currently the Director of Graduate Education.
Zhen Zhang

Zhen Zhang started his first flute lesson in 2003 through Peabody's ACE program using a student flute bought for his kids. He has since replaced it with a better one and is still having fun along with endless frustrations. Since 2006, he has been studying flute with Rachel Choe. He is a faculty member of Department of Pathology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and feels pity that there's no "sabbatical" for flute study.

Meera Sandra Gudipati
Meera Sandra Gudipati studied flute at the Peabody Preparatory with JeeYoung Rachel Choe. At Burleigh Manor Middle School Meera also attends Wind Ensemble. She was the principal flutist of the school orchestra at the Theodor Fliedner Gymnasium in Düsseldorf, Germany. She is the principal flutist of the Gifted and Talented symphonic band of Howard County Maryland and the second flutist of the Maryland Junior All State Band. She is also plays for the Peabody Sinfonietta. Meera won the first prize at the Jugend Musiziert competition in Düsseldorf, Germany with the highest possible score in 2006. She is also an awarded recipient at the Peabody Preparatory in 2006.
