Percussion Requirements

First Year:

Technique:

Studies assigned at the discretion of the instructor.

Repertoire:

Selected solo and orchestral repertoire.

Departmental Examination:

  • To include a mock audition from orchestral repertoire performed on all instruments.
  • Participation in a joint recital, with each student required to perform one solo work.

Second Year:

Technique:

A continuation of work covered in the first year.

Repertoire:

A continuation of the study of solo and orchestral repertoire.

Departmental Examination:

Same format as the first year.

Third Year:

Technique:

A continuation of work covered in the second year.

Repertoire:

A continuation of the study of solo and orchestral repertoire.

Departmental Examination:

Same format as the second year.

Fourth Year:

Technique:

A continuation of work covered in the third year.

Repertoire:

A continuation of the study of solo and orchestral repertoire.

Departmental Examination:

  • Recital, 50-60 minutes (playing time).
  • Fifteen-minute jury of excerpts selected by the faculty from the recital program.
