Second Year:

Technique:

Early fingering concepts.

Repertoire:

  • 17th century Italian works (Frescobaldi, Rossi)
  • Early classical sonata (Haydn, CPE Bach)
  • J.S. Bach: WTC Preludes & Fugues

Departmental Examination:

Based on the above.

Third Year:

Technique:

Continuation of previous, including ornamentation.

Repertoire:

  • 18th century French suite (F. Couperin, Rameau)
  • 17th century English fantasies (Byrd, Bull, Farnaby)
  • G.F. Handel: Suite
  • J.S. Bach: English Suite and Toccatas

Recital:

Half recital, 25 minutes of music.

Departmental Examination:

Based on above.

Fourth Year:

Technique:

Continuation of previous work.

Repertoire:

  • Late 18th century French works (Duphly, Forqueray)
  • D. Scarlatti: Sonatas
  • J.S. Bach: Partitas and Concertos

Departmental Examination:

Recital, 50 minutes of music.
