Barbara Schneider

Violin, YPSP

 Barbara Schneider received her Masters Degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from the Peabody Conservatory, where she studied violin with Herbert Greenberg, former concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and violin pedagogy with Rebecca Henry.  She received her Bachelor of Music
Degree in Violin Performance from the Univerity of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where she studied violin with Klara Fenyo Bahcall, former concertmistress of the Budapest Opera Orchestra.  Ms. Schneider also spent two summers at the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Institute in Maine where she performed in master classes and coachings for distinguished faculty including members of the Tokyo and Juilliard String Quartets.

Since coming to Baltimore, Ms. Schneider has been actively performing both chamber and orchestral repertoire in Maryland.  She was a founding member of the Tempest Trio, and a recipient of the Peabody Development Grant for the trio.  Most recently, she was featured on the chamber music series, "Sundays at Three" in Columbia.  She has also premiered contemporary chamber works on the chamber music series at An Die Musik.  Ms. Schneider currently performs with the Baltimore Opera Orchestra, the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Concert Artists of Baltimore, and the Harford Choral Arts Society.  She is also the concertmaster of the orchestra at the Loyola Chapel under the direction of Ernest Liotti. 

In addition to performing, Ms. Schneider is a violin teacher in the Baltimore and Annapolis areas.  She presently teaches at the Peabody Preparatory and has also taught at the Baltimore High School for the Arts. Her students have been consistently recognized for their talent.  Honors for her students include the Peabody Preparatory Silver Recitals and Honors Recitals, principal positions in Chesapeake Youth Orchestras and Peabody Preparatory Orchestras, and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra side-by-side performances. Her students have been accepted to major music schools including the Peabody Institute, the Hartt School of Music, the Manhattan School of Music,  the University of Maryland at College Park, the University of Miami, and Vanderbilt.  Ms.Schneider has also performed educational programs at Maryland schools for the BSO Arts Excel Program.
