Table of String Department Classes and Ensembles
Your teacher, the Chair or a Coordinator will advise you with regard to appropriate classes, ensembles and programs in which to register or audition.
Most ages, grades and levels are approximate.
Our goal is to create well-matched classes and ensembles for the educational and musical benefit of all participants, hence the difficulty of adding specific age or repertoire level labels to our offerings. The age range or level of some groups may vary slightly from year to year. Consideration for placement may include age, repertoire level, technical, musical, ensemble, performance and reading skills, fluency, attendance, emotional maturity, musical maturity, lesson preparation, and consistency of review.
YPSP Group classes and Camp Allegro classes are assigned by the YPSP faculty.
Entrance into the Pre-Conservatory Violin Program, Violin Choir,
Orchestras, Chamber Music and Chamber Camp are by audition.
Entrance into Intermediate Performance Class (IPC) and Advanced Performance Class (APC) is by teacher recommendation in consultation with the Chair.
PCVP, YPSP, Violin Choir, IPC, APC, and Repertoire Classes and all Peabody Preparatory recitals, competitions, and special events are open only to students who take their individual lessons at Peabody.
Orchestra, Chamber Music, Chamber Camp and Camp Allegro are open to anyone.
