Phyllis Freeman
Violin, Viola
BM Indiana University; MM Peabody Conservatory. Freeman has been teaching violin, viola, and chamber music since 1983. In 1998, she was the recipient of the Teacher of the Year from MD/D.C. chapter of the American String Teachers Association. Freeman is the principal viola for the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and a section player for the National Philharmonic. From 1998 to 2001, she conducted the Peabody Chamber Orchestra. She also is the conductor for the National Philharmonic’s Middle School Institute. She has had several articles published in the Suzuki Association of the Americas journal and creates educational and documentary DVDs.
