Piano for Young People (formerly Suzuki Piano)

Spring 2009  student interviews and placements will be arranged by Ms. Garvin. Interviews will be scheduled beginning January 5, 2009. For more information please see the Suzuki Piano page.


Young PianoThe Preparatory offers several different ways of studying the piano, including Suzuki, Jazz and traditional piano. It is mandatory that students have a piano in their home on which to practice. Electronic keyboards are not considered a good substitute for an acoustic piano. As students progress in their studies, the Preparatory recommends that the student and/or parent discuss with their instructor the possibilities of taking Chamber Music. Students in the Certificate Program must also study Theory. The Piano Department recommends that all students study Theory.
