Dr. Harlan Parker, Conductor

Harlan Parker is in his eighteenth year as the conductor of the Peabody Wind Ensemble and coordinator of the music education division at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. In the fall of 2007, he as also appointed as the conductor of the Preparatory Sinfonietta.  Under his direction, the Peabody Wind Ensemble has given over 25 world premieres, and has performed at state, regional and national conventions. Considered "one of the finest ensembles of its kind in the nation," the Peabody Wind Ensemble has received critical acclaim from contemporary composers such as David Amram, James Syler, Eric Ewazen, Stella Sung and Johan de Meij. Dustin Doyle, Assistant Conductor

Dustin M. Doyle is in his second year of his master's degree in wind conducting under Dr. Harlan Parker. A 2002 graduate of the University of Maryland with a bachelor of music degree, Dustin has since been the instrumental music director at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. Earning top honors in performance with his jazz, orchestra, pit orchestra, and band programs, Dustin has gained recognition across state and national competitions. His groups have performed at venues in Chicago and New York as well as numerous competitions in the state of Maryland. (more)

 

Trent Hollinger, Assistant Conductor

Conductor, composer, and saxophonist Trent A. Hollinger has been acclaimed as a “dynamic, powerful, and energetic” conductor with a “driving passion to make music at its highest possible levels of accomplishment.”  Mr. Hollinger is currently pursuing his doctor of musical arts degree in wind conducting at the Peabody Conservatory of Music.  Previously, he served as head of the instrumental division, director of bands, and assistant professor of music at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  (more) 

 

Elijah Osterloh, Assistant Conductor 

Elijah Osterloh, Assistant Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Maryland, is a native of Ellicott City, Maryland, where he was a member of the Mt. Hebron High School Viking Band. As assistant director of athletic bands, Mr. Osterloh aids in the direction of the Maryland band program, as well as “The Mighty Sound of Maryland” Marching Band, basketball pep band, and University Band. In 1999 he received the bachelor of science degree in music education from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he was a student of Dr. Susan Taylor. From 1999-2003, he was director of bands and orchestras at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School in Beltsville, Maryland. (more)

 

Rich Lauver, Ensemble Manager

Rich Lauver studied music theory and composition at the University of Texas at Austin with piano as his principal instrument. His piano teacher, Danielle Martin, was an alumna of the Peabody Conservatory. While at the University of Texas, where he originally majored in physics before switching to music, he began composing for and playing with various progressive, punk, new-wave, and alternative rock ensembles as a multi-keyboardist, synthesist, vocalist and MIDI programmer, in a performing career which lasted for some fifteen years. Mr. Lauver joined the staff of the Peabody Conservatory in 1999 as an ensemble coordinator, and currently manages the personnel, rehearsal and performance activities of the Peabody Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds, Peabody Camerata, and Peabody Jazz Orchestra.
