Introduction to Keyboard Explorers (Ages 4-5)

A fifteen minute individual lesson designed to introduce very young students to the piano while also training the ear and developing rhythmic skills through musical games, singing and the use of rhythmic instruments. The summer session is an excellent time to introduce the young child to the piano and prepare them for the fall semester of Keyboard Explorers. Prerequisites: although acoustic piano is preferred, a full-sized keyboard is acceptable for this session.

Note: The Preparatory summer session requires the registration and full payment be made prior to arranging an interview with the program director. Once payment is made parents should contact the Annapolis Campus office of the Peabody Preparatory at 410-269-5343 or email peabodyprepannapolis@verizon.net to schedule a brief interview. All parents and prospective students must attend the interview before they will be placed. Lessons are contingent upon the student’s readiness, preference of weekly lesson time and teacher availability. Once the interview is completed parents will receive notification via phone or email of their student’s lesson day, time, location, and teacher.

In the event that placement does not occur, the instructor will make alternative recommendations for the student and family depending on the needs of the child. For example, “Music for Young Singers and Movers” and “Music for Developing Musicians” are courses in the Early Childhood Department which may be more appropriate for the student. If Early Childhood classes are not an option parents must contact the Baltimore Main campus to receive a refund.
