Seminar Substitutions
Transfer students needing to fulfill the Humanities Seminar requirement should confer with the Chair of the Humanities Department. In most cases, it is best to enroll in the course.
For transfer students, the requirements met by the Seminar may be fulfilled with non-music courses rooted in the humanities or social sciences that address American or Western European art, politics, society or history. Appropriate substitutions must be text-based classes with required essays or other written projects; discussion courses are preferred.
Two 3-credit courses are usually selected to fulfill this 4-credit requirement. Prior approval is needed to make sure that your coursework is properly applied towards this requirement.
