Career Counseling and Placement Services

410-234-4650

The Career Counseling and Placement Office, often called the "Placement Office," is a resource center, collecting information from many sources about job vacancies (summer and winter, musical and non-musical), competitions, performance opportunities, graduate assistantships, summer festivals, among others, and publishes the information twice a month in its Job Vacancy Bulletin, available online at the Peabody website under Career Counseling and Placement at www.peabody.jhu.edu/jvb. Peabody students and alumni can pick up a copy at no cost in the Placement Office, or it can be mailed for a small subscription fee to cover postage. The Career Counseling and Placement Office is also a resource for reference materials about job hunting, places to perform, competitions, and the music business. The office also offers assistance on searching for jobs, writing cover letters and resumes, and gathering references to open a credential file.

In addition, the Career Counseling and Placement Office operates a Gig Referral Service, which refers members of the public seeking musicians for weddings, parties, and concerts, among other events, to eligible students and alumni. Applicants for the list must provide an audition tape, a cover letter, and a resume. Undergraduates must also secure written permission from their major teachers.
