Counseling Center at Johns Hopkins University

3003 N. Charles Street, S-200, 2nd Floor
410-516-8278

Comprehensive counseling and psychological services are available for Peabody students at the Johns Hopkins University Counseling Center on the Homewood campus. The Center is located on the second floor of 3003 North Charles Street. In addition Dr. Garima Lamba, staff psychologist, is available at Peabody one-half day per week. The mission of the Counseling Center is to support and enhance the psychological and emotional well-being of the students and, thereby, facilitate their ability to function successfully academically.

Counseling Center services include shortterm individual therapy, group therapy, career counseling, substance abuse counseling, crisis intervention, theme workshops (on topics such as test anxiety, stress management, and interpersonal relationships), special student development and support programs such as programs for international students, minority students, gay students, and graduate students, and consultation on coping with student-life problems. Some typical concerns that might lead a student to contact the Center include, but are not limited to, problems adjusting to college life, feeling overwhelmed or having difficulty coping, difficulties in interpersonal relationships, academic/performance anxiety, loneliness or depression, and uncertainty about career choice.

All contacts at the Center are strictly confidential. No information is released, on or off campus, without the student's prior written authorization, except in those rare circumstances where it is required by law (for example, life threatening conditions). Students may make appointments for professional services in person or by telephone. However, a professional staff member is on duty each day for immediate assistance in case of an emergency. Office hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. For all after-hours emergencies, you may reach an on-call staff member by calling Homewood Campus Security at 410-516-7777. To obtain additional information about programs and services, contact the Counseling Center at 410-516-8278.
