Kyley McClain is the residence life and student activities coordinator whose primary objective is to create a living environment within the residence hall conducive to the educational and social development of all students who reside on campus. She is responsible for the overall management of the residence hall. It is her job to coordinate room assignments and changes, supervise the resident assistant staff, and work to create a sense of community among the residents.
The Peabody residence hall consists of two towers connected at the plaza level by the dining hall. Constructed in 1968, the towers have large, fully-furnished, air-conditioned rooms. The residence hall is a non-smoking, traditional residence hall with single, double, and triple occupancy rooms, and shared bathrooms. A small kitchen is available to resident students for recreational cooking between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. The laundry room facilities, with coin-operated washers and dryers, are located in the basement of the West Tower Residence Hall and are available for use by all Peabody students. The room is accessible 24 hours a day.
Resident assistants (RAs) are students who are selected for their abilities to provide leadership among their peers, to help and support others, and to contribute to the development of a community atmosphere in the residence hall. In addition, the RAs job responsibilities, include, but are not limited to, providing informal peer advising to residents, planning recreational and educational programming, responding to emergencies, enforcing Peabody Institute policies, and serving as a resource on campus.
There is one RA on each of the six floors. One RA is on duty each night from 7:00 pm until 8:00 am and can be reached at 443- 250-7240 in the event of an emergency, disturbance, or other issue in the residence hall. The RA duty schedule will be posted on each RA's room door.
