Jobs are available at Peabody for students who are enrolled full-time in a degree program. Students are responsible for seeking available positions at the beginning of the academic year. Before a student can be paid for a job performed at Peabody or other Hopkins divisions, job placement must be approved by the Human Resources/Payroll Services Office. There are no exceptions.

If a student has been awarded Federal Work Study, the student must complete a Work Study Authorization form. If Federal Work Study has been awarded, on-campus employment may be obtained through the Internal Student Employment Program (ISEP). To obtain on-campus employment, the relevant employment authorization forms must be completed. Packets containing important information and the required forms are available at the Human Resources/Payroll Services Office.

The Human Resources/Payroll Services Office processes the payroll for all students working at Peabody. In order to be eligible for employment, each student must complete new hire paperwork with the payroll coordinator. This paperwork must be completed, in person, prior to the student's first day of work. At that time the student must be able to present: 1) a valid passport with Form I-94, I-20, and visa, as necessary; or 2) a valid driver's license and social security card or birth certificate (photocopies of documents are not acceptable). These documents are needed for the Employment Verification Form (Form I-9), which is required by law. Students are not authorized to work until approved by the Human Resources/Payroll Services Office and will not be paid for any time worked prior to this approval. Federal and state tax forms and other job-related forms must be filled out by students when they begin their first job at Peabody. Students claiming exemption from state and federal taxes must fill out tax forms annually in January for that calendar year. Reminder notices will be posted at the cashier's window and on campus bulletin boards.

For further assistance with campus employment, contact the Human Resources/Payroll Services Office.
