Alumni campaign
We, as Peabody alumni, bring music to the world in different ways. Whatever we do in our “day job” or our “night job”, the Peabody trained musical talents and skills we all possess enhance our community and the world around us.
Peabody helped make us who we are today, and when fellow alumni make a monetary donation to the school it sends a message that the education we received is a valuable foundation for our career, whether it is in music or another occupation. Our goal is to strengthen that message this year and raise the percentage of alumni donors from 10% to 15% -- aiming for 769 alumni.
Over the coming year, we will share the stories of fellow alumni who are supporting Peabody though an annual charitable gift. As a start, we have asked the alumni who have already given this year to share their stories about their career endeavors and why they decided to make a donation at this time. The responses have included alumni who are carrying on their musical activities as an endeavor that exists in addition to their careers as well as those who make it their profession.
| Sharada Rao (BM ’01, Saxophone) After Peabody, I went to grad school for two years and got a master’s degree in statistics. I have been an actuary at a life insurance company since 2003. I still teach sax lessons every Thursday, and I'm very proud of all of my students. I donate because I know firsthand how much a student benefits from a solid music education regardless of what career path s/he takes. |
