Cello

B.A., Harvard University (winner of the Horblit Prize for outstanding musical accomplishment); studies at Curtis Institute and the University of Pennsylvania. Teachers included Orlando Cole, Laurence Lesser, and Harvey Shapiro. Associate principal cellist, New York Philharmonic, 1989-98. Formerly, principal cellist of the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Solo, chamber concerts, and concerto appearances in the U.S. and abroad, with recitals broadcast by NPR and the CBC. Appearances with the Mostly Mozart Festival, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Washington National Gallery, Bargemusic (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and the New York Philharmonic Ensembles. Awards include Editor's Choice from Gramophone Magazine and Chamber Music Record of the Year by the British Music Industry Association for recording of the Korngold Trio on EMI Records; New York Times Critic's Choice for Barber Cello Sonata recording, also for EMI Records. Former faculty, Harvard University, MIT. Faculty, Manhattan School of Music, Music Academy of the West, National Orchestral Institute.
