Violin

Since her recent arrival in Baltimore, Lauren Rausch has been an active freelance performer and teacher. Rausch is currently a violin teacher in the Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra's Bridges program and also the Odyssey School in Baltimore. She has been teaching violin for ten years and is a registered Suzuki teacher and Music Mind Games instructor. In fall of 2011, Rausch joins the faculty of the Peabody Preparatory, where she is also pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in violin performance with Violaine Melançon.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance from Arizona State University, Rausch became a Graduate Teaching Fellow and teaching assistant at the University of Oregon. While in Oregon, she joined the Eugene Symphony Orchestra and taught in the University’s Community Music Institute as a violin teacher and chamber coach. Rausch holds a Master of Music degree in violin performance and pedagogy and received an award for Outstanding Performer in Strings for her work at University of Oregon.

Rausch is a devoted performer of new music. Having recently finished a recording of a new composition by Robert Baker, she will appear this season with the Third Millenium Ensemble, a Washington, D.C. based new music group. Rausch has attended numerous summer music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival and School, Chautauqua Music Festival, and the Meadowmount School of Music. She is a native of Columbus, Ohio.
