Instrumentalists/ Vocalists Needed to Performin West Mount Vernon Place ParkThis Summer

The Friends of the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy are seeking instrumentalists &/or vocalists, both students and staff, to perform as part of our Summer Entertainment Series in the Parks. The performances will be on Wednesday evenings, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on the following dates:

June 6 ~ June 13 ~ July 4 ~ July 18 ~ August 1 ~ August 29

The performances will take place in the West Mount Vernon Place park (near the fountain). Given that each performance will be outside, it is important that the instrument/vocalist be clearly audible. If need be, you may provide your own amplification. (electricity is available in the park).

The goal is to have music that would appeal to the general public, either classical or more current selections. It’s a very informal atmosphere, almost like a coffee house environment whereby people come and go throughout the performance. (i.e. not a recital format). In the past, the audience has enjoyed having the musician introduce the pieces that are being performed and if possible, providing a little bit of background about the composer or piece of music etc.

We can accommodate soloists, duos, or trios.   Each performer will be compensated a small stipend-- $50 per one hour performance. (i.e. maximum of $150 per performance if there are 3 performers). You are also welcome to hand out business cards etc.

Performance Opportunity for Peabody Students for First Candle International Conference 2012

Location:
Baltimore Marriott Waterfront hotel

Dates:
October 4-7, 2012

Description:
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to First Candle and the 2012 International Conference of Stillbirth, SIDS and Infant Survival. First Candle is a national nonprofit health organization uniting parents, caregivers and researchers nationwide with government, business and community service groups to advance infant health and survival.  With help from a national network of partner organizations, we are working to increase public participation and support in the fight against Stillbirth, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other causes of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID).

The 2012 International Conference will bring together 350 leading researches, medical professionals, stakeholders and families.  The United States and Baltimore is proud to welcome these distinguished attendees to the great state of Maryland.  First Candle would like the opportunity to feature some of your extraordinarily talented students at this prestigious conference.

About the Performance Opportunities:
We have two such opportunities for your students to perform. First, there will be a welcome reception scheduled for Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott.  We would be honored if your students would perform at this reception.  A choir group or string orchestra performance would be ideal. Second, there will be an awards dinner on Saturday, October 6th beginning at 6:00 p.m.  This prestigious awards dinner with honor and salute the work of the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development.  We are looking for a ten minute performance to pay tribute to their incredible work.
