Stephen WyrczynskiA member of The Philadelphia Orchestra since 1992, Stephen Wyrczynski began violin studies at age of eight and eventually continued with Philadelphia Orchestra Associate Principal Violin Robert de Pasquale. In 1983 he began viola studies, first with Kim Kashkashian and later with Karen Tuttle at the Peabody Conservatory. Mr. Wyrczynski received a bachelor of music degree from the Juilliard School in 1988, where he served as teaching assistant to Ms. Tuttle, and then returned to Philadelphia where he attended the Curtis Institute of Music and studied with then-Philadelphia Orchestra Principal Viola Joseph de Pasquale. He earned a performance diploma from Curtis in 1991.

Active as a chamber musician he has performed with members of the Tokyo, Brentano, and St. Lawrence String Quartets, and has participated in a number of music festivals, including the Casals Festival, Newport Music Festival, El Paso Pro Musica, the Grand Teton Music Festival, and Tanglewood, where he was awarded the Leonard Bernstein Fellowship. He has made solo appearances for the Delius Society, Philadelphia Viola Society, New York Viola Society, Mozart Society of Philadelphia, National Repertory Orchestra, and for the Apollo Chamber Players of Denver.

Stephen WyrczynskiMr. Wyrczynski keeps an active teaching schedule where he is on the viola faculty of the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University and the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado. In addition to teaching lessons there, he conducts a orchestral repertoire class for viola which focuses on audition techniques. He has also taught orchestral studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, the Mannes College of Music in New York, the New York School for Orchestral Studies in Saratoga Springs, the National Orchestral Institute at the University of Maryland and Le Domaine Forget in Saint Irene, Quebec.
