Openings for Substitute and Extra Musicians for Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra (OPO)
Substitute and Extra Musician auditions are scheduled as follows:
Harp and Strings (Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass) – Sunday, May 20, 2012
Woodwinds (Flute/Piccolo, Oboe/English Horn, Clarinet/E-flat Clarinet/Bass Clarinet, Bassoon/Contrabassoon, Saxophones) – Saturday, May 26, 2012
Piano and Percussion – Saturday, June 2, 2012
Brass (Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Bass Trombone, Tuba) – Saturday, June 9, 2012
Description:
Copies of the excerpts will be available once you arrive at the audition, although you may use your own music if you wish. Candidates who receive a favorable vote from their respective audition committee will be placed on the OPO’s sub list; however earning placement on the sub list does not guarantee that you will be offered work by the OPO. The OPO does not reimburse substitute and extra musicians who incur travel expenses (including mileage, accommodations, airplane fare or any other travel costs) in order to audition for or perform with the OPO. The OPO requests that only serious candidates willing to travel to Orlando at their own expense apply for these auditions. The OPO, under Music Director Christopher Wilkins, is a professional, per-service orchestra performing approximately 110 services annually in the Orlando/Central Florida area. We perform full orchestra (classical and pops), opera, ballet, chamber (orchestra and ensemble) and educational services through the season.
