Applying to college involves a lot of time and energy from all concerned, so before we process an application for you, I want you to know a little more about the programs we offer.

Obviously, we can't promise in advance that you will be accepted to Peabody, but we can give you a general idea of what kind of background is associated with those who are successful. This is not easy to do, so we ask that you keep three things in mind:

  1. This information is generally consistent with official school documents, but much of what I will tell you is just a result of my own observations over the years.
  2. The idea is to help you decide whether or not to apply, so I will include typical background information about acceptable students.  Applying to a music school (and auditioning) can be costly, so it is to everyone's advantage to see how well you match the profiles.
  3. In sharing all this information with you, I don't want to risk discouraging qualified people who may not exactly match up with the descriptions. So, if there is a little doubt in your mind about your qualifications, or if you feel that you are a special case, I urge you to go ahead and submit an application.
