Performance Majors
Peabody accepts around 47% of those who complete the audition or interview process. The percentage can be significantly higher for orchestral instruments, and lower in piano and voice. Graduate level audition requirements are rather general--stating only that a full recital of various musical periods and styles must be prepared. However, in certain majors (see link below for a list) the faculty is more specific. Keep in mind that our graduate programs are built on the assumption that students entering will have a background at least equivalent to a Bachelor of Music (or Master of Music) degree from a selective school like Peabody. Applicants with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a music major can be considered for admission to an MM program. We use the results of the theory and eartraining placement tests as indicators of sufficient background.
