# 18581 Snapshot: Symphonies & Concertos Over the Centuries
Program

featuring Douglas Heist and Ernest Liotti

Explore the most profound instrumental art form, The Symphony, from its basic seventeenth-century beginnings to its mammoth manifestations in Romantic music. Survey works of Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and Mahler. Trace the structure of the piano concerto, from Classical to the 20th Century. Compare various recorded and video performances and discuss intriguing works by Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Rachmaninoff and Barber.

NOTE:

In contrast to our regular programs, which last 6 days and 5 nights, "Snapshot" programs are shorter, running 4 days and 3 nights. They are designed to provide an introduction to all that our Exploritas has to offer! This program will begin on Sunday, May 23, 2010 and will conclude on Wednesday, May 26, 2010.
