#18914 Snapshot: Mozart and Verdi Operas (Cosi Fan Tutte and La Traviata)
Program

featuring John Weber and Aaron Sherber

Focus on Mozart and Da Ponte's final collaboration by viewing a recorded performance of the opera Cosi Fan Tutte. Discuss the grammar of the Classical Style, the morality of the characters in contemporary terms, and the expectations of the late 18th-century listener. Also delve into Verdi's La Traviata. Verdi took his inspiration for one of the world’s most popular operas from "La Dame aux Camelias" by Dumas. Learn about historical and societal conditions surrounding the story and the opera, while listening to great recorded performances, past and present.

Note: In contrast to our regular programs, which last 6 days and 5 nights, "Snapshot" programs are shorter, running 4 days and 3 nights. They are designed to provide an introduction to all that our Exploritas program has to offer! This program will begin on Sunday, August 15 and will conclude on Wednesday, August 18, 2010.
