Guidelines for Researchers

The records of the Peabody Institute are open to scholarly researchers and to the general public. Use of materials in the collection may be limited by restricitions imposed by law, generally recognized ethics, stipulations of donors, and conservation concerns. The Archives are generally open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are encouraged.

General Procedures

  1. Persons wishing to use archival materials are requested to contact the Archivist by phone or letter in advance to discuss the nature of the research, and to arrange for an appointment.

  2. Patrons visiting the Archives for the first time are required to present identification and to complete and sign a registration form.

  3. Access to the stacks and shelves is limited to the staff of the Archives.
