Violin Choir

Ages 10-16

This premier group is an ensemble of 12-16 serious violinists ages approximately 10-16. Students work on technique, musicianship, and chamber and leading skills as they study 1-4 part music for the violin in varying styles with and without a conductor. They perform regularly with the Peabody Prep's Young People's String Program as well as in the community.

The Violin Choir has performed in conjunction with workshops given by Rebecca Henry on Contemporary Music for the American String Teacher's Association in Cincinnati and for the Suzuki Association of the Americas in Chicago. They have performed in Baltimore for the Maryland Board of Education, The Johns Hopkins University Gala, The Baltimore Festival of Trees, a National ASTA Conference Awards Dinner, and in Baltimore's Second Presbyterian Church Music Series featuring Talented Youth. In November, 2001 they performed a concert to benefit the Red Cross and the victims of September 11, 2001.

An individual instruction lesson at the Prep is mandatory.
