The Johns Hopkins University, one of the world’s leading research universities, is seeking applications and nominations for the Dean of renowned Peabody Institute.

Previously holding the title of Director, and reporting to the President through the Provost, the Dean of the Peabody Institute is the chief executive officer responsible for the overall achievement of the Institute’s mission and day-to-day operations. The Institute seeks an inspiring leader with artistic breadth, strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated expertise in financial management, and experience leading a complex, musically focused organization.

The Dean will join the Institute at an auspicious time as it seeks to define a new set of strategic priorities that simultaneously embrace the tradition of intensive conservatory education while addressing the need for innovation given the radical impact of new technologies and the shifting nature of audiences and audience attention in contemporary culture. As the leader of the largest arts enterprise at Johns Hopkins and of one of the largest in Baltimore, the Dean will have the opportunity to help shape the cultural life of the university and the city. Ideal candidates will be adept at inspiring others, astute in how to lead change and identify opportunities for growth, and excited by the prospect of working with the faculty, students, staff, and alumni to re-imagine the Peabody Institute for the coming generations.
