Full Time Position – Musicology

The Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University is accepting applications for a full-time faculty position in musicology to begin August 2013. The Ph.D. in Musicology must be completed by August 2013. Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate surveys and seminars as well as graduate advising of Masters in Musicology and Doctor of Musical Arts students. The ideal candidate will be an effective and versatile teacher, an active scholar with an interest in contemporary music, and a dedicated colleague willing to contribute through departmental, conservatory, and university-wide service. The Conservatory does not offer faculty tenure or rank.

Trumpet Artist/Teacher — Part-Time Position

The Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University invites nominations and applications for a part-time faculty member in trumpet performance to begin August 2013. Candidates must be established artists of international reputation and have extensive experience as an orchestral musician in major orchestras. Proven success in college-level teaching and the ability to recruit outstanding students is also required.

The successful candidate will co-teach with an existing member of the trumpet faculty. No separate studio will be formed. Responsibilities include weekly coordination of lesson schedules, lesson plans, and student evaluations. In addition, teachers will collaborate with colleagues on department and artistic initiatives and activities and contribute to the overall mission of the Peabody Institute. The successful candidate will embrace the Conservatory’s commitment to providing a broad educational and artistic experience for its 670 students. The Conservatory does not offer faculty tenure or rank.

French Horn Artist/Teacher — Part-Time Position

The Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University invites nominations and applications for a part-time faculty member in French horn performance to begin August 2013. Candidates must be established international artists with extensive experience as a soloist and/or with ensembles. Proven success in Conservatory-level teaching is also required.

Responsibilities will include building and maintaining a studio of undergraduate and graduate -level French horn majors; collaborating with colleagues on department and artistic initiatives and activities; and contributing to the overall mission of the Peabody Institute. The successful candidate will embrace the Conservatory’s commitment to providing a broad educational and artistic experience for its 670 students. The Conservatory does not offer faculty tenure or rank.
