Andy Fields
Andy Fields began private piano lessons at the age of six, and began playing bass professionally during high school. Other private studies include instructors Dr. Ascher Zlotnick- theory and composition, Robert Fields- jazz piano, Calvin Lampley- classical piano, and Robert Kennick- percussion. He completed undergraduate work at Loyola College with a B.A. in English Literature and Secondary Education. Andy was named Assistant Director of music at Calvert Hall High School He recieved his M.A. in musicology from Morgan State University under the tutelage of Dr. Dominic De Lerma. His researched focused on history of jazz in the Baltimore area and resulted in a thesis entitled "Biography of William Llewellyn Wilson." This research is currently apart of a traveling exhibit sponsored of Peabody Conservatory entitled The Approaching Storm. Andy is most proud of the long stand engagements he has held at Society Hill Hotel, Baron's 200, currently The Oregon Grill, which respectively includes two decades of professional playing in the Baltimore area. Current studies include the Arnold Schoenberg theory of harmony under the tutelage of Jack Reilly, formerly from the New England Conservatory of Music.
