Violin, Assistant to the YPSP Coordinator
Violinist Andréa Picard Boecker’s musical and social involvement has brought her to perform in the most diverse venues, from Carnegie Hall to the slums of Delhi, India. As a recitalist and chamber player, Ms. Picard has performed at the Festival du Pays de Bray in Normandy, France, the Crescendo Festival Gala Concert in Sarospatak, Hungary, the Lunchtime Chamber Music Series At Christ Church Deer Park in Toronto, the Montreal International Jazz Festival, and the First Unitarian Church of Baltimore’s Cultural Series. Her thoughtful performances have been applauded in masterclasses by internationally acclaimed musicians such as Maxim Vengerov, Vadim Repin, Gil Shaham, Léonidas Kavakos and Daniel Phillips.
Originally from Québec, Andréa Picard Boecker earned the Conservatoire de Musique du Québec à Montréal's award with highest distinction in violin performance and chamber music. She also won the Josef Kaspar Award in Strings at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, where she received her Master’s of Music in Violin Performance and Violin Pedagogy. Her teachers and mentors have included Victor Danchenko, Johanne Arel, Raymond Dessaints, Violaine Melançon and Rebecca Henry. Ms. Picard is a recipient of the Lieutenant-Governor of Québec’s Award, the Music Teachers National Association’s StAR Award, and the Eastern Township’s “Personality of the Week” Award.
Andréa Picard Boecker is a faculty member in the Peabody Preparatory Strings Department, is music director of the Camp Musical de l’Estrie in Canada and teaches at the Société Musicale d’ Été Vivaldi in France as well as the Camp Musical des Laurentides in Québec.
