Bassoon Week

Peabody Bassoon Week
July 15-21, 2012

I am excited to welcome you to Baltimore this July for the second annual Peabody Bassoon Week, an intensive, five-day program primarily for intermediate and advanced high school and undergraduate college students. The curriculum—including daily lessons, master classes, chamber music coaching, and reed-making workshops—offers strategies to help you practice more effectively, improve your technique and sight-reading skills, and make a more beautiful sound.

This summer, we will focus on the music of Telemann and Tango. Telemann solo works include two Sonatinas newly discovered  in the 1900s, the famous Sonata in F minor and a transcription of the C Major recorder sonata. Tango repertoire includes popular challenging works by Mathew Lussier and Pierre Max Dubois and arrangements for bassoon of original Brazilian Tangos.  There will be opportunity to play ensemble music of Piazolla and Telemann.

Whether you are preparing for a college or conservatory audition or looking to stand out as a music major, Peabody Bassoon Week is designed to help you become a stronger, more confident player and take your musicianship to the next level. There will also be plenty of evening activities and opportunities for socializing with other participants.

See you at the Peabody Conservatory in July!
