Bits & Pieces
A Reminder to Auditioning Students
If you require music for your audition, please be sure to bring your own. Peabody cannot loan materials to students not currently enrolled at Peabody or Hopkins.
Check-In
To avoid the early morning rush, please arrive close to your first scheduled activity. Audition Week check-in will take place in the Conservatory Arcade. Information about your audition and exam/interview schedule will be provided. You will also receive a packet containing helpful information about Peabody and the Baltimore area.
Admissions Hosts
To welcome you to Peabody and to show you around, there will be several "Admission Hosts" available during Audition Week. These hosts are Peabody student volunteers who will help you check-in, answer questions, provide directions, and give campus tours. You can identify Admissions Hosts by their name tags and friendly smiles.
Peabody Tours
Guided tours of the Peabody Campus will be conducted by Admissions Hosts at 11:15 am and 2:00 pm daily, originating in the Conservatory Arcade. This is a great way to learn more about the campus!
Computer Music Studio
Students interested in electronic music and the application of computers in music are invited to visit the Peabody Computer Music Studio, Rooms 312 and 314 in the Conservatory Building.
International Student Affairs
International Student Advisor, Danielle Tillilie, will be welcoming students at the check-in table during audition week. She will be able answer your questions about visa requirements there, or you may email her at dmtill@jhu.edu to make an appointment to see her in the International Student Affairs Office in Unger Lounge.
Opera Department
Some additional opera rehearsals will be open to observers. These rehearsals will be posted each day outside the Opera Studio, Leakin Hall 114.
Money Matters
Information about the Financial Aid application process is discussed at the daily Meeting for Parents. Prospective Graduate students with financial aid questions are also encouraged to attend. An additional opportunity to meet Rebecca Polgar, Director of Financial Aid will occur at the “Parent Introduction to Campus Life” each afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in Unger Lounge. You may also visit the Financial Aid Office in Leakin Hall or call 410-234-4900, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm to get answers to your individual questions, or visit www.peabody.jhu.edu/finaid for more information.
Music Entrepreneurship and Career Center
The MECC provides comprehensive services in support of the careers of students and recent alumni. MECC staff members help students pinpoint artistic and professional objectives, build entrepreneurial skills, prepare and submit job applications, develop promotional materials and websites, locate internships, raise funds, organize concert tours, and much more. Recording Arts Program
Peabody offers a degree in Recording Arts at the undergraduate and graduate level. Students are trained for careers as recording engineers and music producers, and for a variety of jobs in the audio industry. Peabody Dining Hall
The Dining Hall is located between the two residence towers. The hours of the Dining Hall are Breakfast: 7:30 am - 9:30 am; Continental Breakfast: 9:30 am - 10:30 am; Lunch: 11:00 am - 2:00 pm; Delis & Salad Bar: 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm; Dinner: Monday, thru Thursday 5:00 pm -7:00 pm); Brunch: Saturday & Sunday 11:00 am -2:00 pm. Enjoy our All-You-Care-To-Eat Dinner/Brunch buffets for one low price! Ala carte dining also available. If you’re in a hurry, pic up Grab ’n Go items anytime.
Maestro’s Café
Get your caffeine buzz while enjoying the wireless internet access in our comfy café located across from Peabody on Centre Street. Indulge in your favorite coffee and specialty drinks from Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company, premium baked goods, daily soup specials, and fresh Grab ’n Go salads & sandwiches. Maestro’s is open Monday thru Friday 7:30 am - 6:00 pm and Saturday 9 am - 2 pm.
Peabody Performs!
Recordings of Peabody performances are available for your listening pleasure in the Friedheim Library (8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday). Rehearsals of performing groups during Audition Week will also be open to the public. We invite you to hear just how good we sound!
Parking
The Peabody parking garage is located under the Residence Hall complex. Fees are $8 until close. Available parking spaces are extremely limited, so we suggest leaving your car at your hotel and taking the city bus, shuttle bus, or walking to Peabody. Also, please be careful of street parking near Peabody as there are numerous restricted areas as well as tow-away zones. Do not leave any packages, valuables, etc., in the car exposed to open view. After dark, the Peabody Escort Van is available to take you to locations within a ten-block radius of campus.
Shuttle Bus
Free shuttle bus service is available between the Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus, the Amtrak train station, the Peabody Campus, and Hopkins Medical Institutions. The shuttle bus runs on a half hourly basis. Buses run more frequently during rush hours. Call 410-234-4605 if you need to know the exact schedule. Homewood Tours
As members of the Johns Hopkins University community, Peabody students have access to all the facilities and services located at the main Homewood Campus. In order to learn more about Hopkins, take advantage of the group information sessions offered most weekdays at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm in the lobby of Mason Hall on the Homewood campus followed by tours at 11:00 am & 2:00 pm. Due to variable tour schedules, please check the Admissions website at apply.jhu.edu/visit/guidedtours.html, or call 410.516.8171 to verify the current schedule.

Charles Street
Along the Charles Street corridor, just north and south of Peabody, are restaurants representing cuisine from around the world. Afghani, Ethiopian, French, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Mexican, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, and many cafés can be found within a few blocks of Peabody.
Inner Harbor and Harborplace
Located ten blocks south of Peabody, Harborplace houses in its two pavilions a wide variety of restaurants, food stalls, and specialty shops. The Inner Harbor is also home to the National Aquarium, the Baltimore Maritime Museum, the Maryland Science Center
