Society of Peabody Alumni
The mission of the Peabody Chapter of the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association is to build and support a lifelong relationship between the Peabody Conservatory of Music and its former students. Through this relationship, the Association strengthens the school's ability to attract outstanding students and faculty, increases alumni participation and investment in the school, and promotes its mission and achievements around the world.
The Society works to fulfill its mission through activities that create community, support student life, reward excellence, and encourage lifelong learning.

There is no better time to “feel” the excitement and experience the Conservatory at the height of activity than mid-week in April. (Please note that rehearsals and recitals are subject to change, please check at the welcome desk for an updated list when you arrive)
Tuesday, April 16, 2013
- 9:00 am–8:00 pm: Alumni Welcome Table in the Visitor's Center 17, East Mount Vernon Place. Informal campus tours will be available all day long, there will be a list of recitals, open classes, open rehearsals and Peabody t-shirts for sale.
- 12:00–1:00 pm: Conductor's Orchestra (East Hall) Alumni are welcome to sit in
- 2:30–5:30 pm: Peabody Concert Orchestra Dress Rehearsal (Friedberg Concert Hall) Alumni are welcome to sit in
- 5:00 pm: Jazz Piano Degree Recital - Cesar Orozco/Murphy (Cohen-Davison) Alumni are welcome to attend
- 5:00 pm: Richard Goode Piano Master Class (Goodwin Hall) Alumni are welcome to attend but space will be very limited.
- 5:00 pm: Organ Degree Recital - John Meyers/Walker (Griswold Hall) Alumni are welcome to attend
- 5:30 pm–7:30 pm: A Pig Roast in the Plaza. All you can eat buffet including lemonade, sweet tea and a we'll have a keg of Natty Boh ($25 per person).
- 6:30 pm: Cello Degree Recital - Frances Borowsky/Peled (Cohen-Davison) Alumni are welcome to attend
- 6:30 pm: Voice Degree Recital - MacKenzie Florence/Cornett (Griswold Hall) Alumni are welcome to attend
- 8:00 pm: Peabody Trio concert in Friedberg Hall ($7.50 per ticket).
- 8:00 pm: Voice Degree Recital - Lisa Perry/Bryn-Julson (Griswold Hall) Alumni are welcome to attend

- 9:00 am–8:00 pm: Alumni Welcome Table in the Visitor's Center 17, East Mount Vernon Place. Informal campus tours will be available all day long, there will be a list of recitals, open classes, open rehearsals and Peabody t-shirts for sale.
- 10:00–11:30 am: Formal Tour of Campus for Alumni (starting at the Welcome Table in the Visitor's Center)
- 12:00–2:00 pm: Reunion lunch at the Peabody Court Hotel with special tributes to those celebrating their 40th (classes of 1972, 1973) and 50th (classes of 1962, and 1963) AND presentation of the Peabody Alumni Achievement Award Recognizing Outstanding Contributions to Music in Maryland to Frances Motyca Dawson (TC ‘61, BM ‘62, Piano; MM ’67, Choral Conducting) and John Barry Talley (MM ’67, DMA ’83, Choral Conducting) with help from a previous winner of this award, Ray Sprenkle, ’70, ’71, ’79. ($30 per person).
- 2:30–4:00 pm: Chorus Singers Rehearsal (East Hall) Alumni are welcome to sit in
- 2:30–4:30 pm: Peabody Symphony Orchestra Rehearsal (Friedberg Concert Hall) Alumni are welcome to sit in
- 3:00–4:00 pm: Special Lecture by Peabody Faculty member Andrew Talle on the lives of musicians in the 1700’s, when Bach and Mozart were alive. Find out how different or similar their training and careers were to musicians working today! (Griswold Hall -- formerly called North Hall)
- 4:00–5:30 pm: Reception in Memory of Mary Walker (TC '34, Piano) and Lynn Taylor Hebden (TC '51, AD '54 Voice) Bank of America Lounge.
- 5:00 pm: Piano Degree Recital - Chun-Han Lin/Pasternack (Goodwin Hall) Alumni are welcome to attend
- 5:00 pm: Voice Degree Recital - Rachel Grider/Bryn-Julson (Griswold Hall) Alumni are welcome to attend
- 5:00 - 7:00 pm: The Peabody Musicology Colloquium by Gary Tomlinson, Yale University, on "The Evolutionary Emergence of Music: A Discussion" (Room 308C)
- 6:30 pm: Flute Degree Recital - Melissa Wertheimer/Piccinini (Goodwin Hall) Alumni are welcome to attend
- 6:30 pm: Voice Degree Recital - Katherine Runkel/Sharp (Griswold Hall) Alumni are welcome to attend
- 8:00 pm: Peabody Concert Orchestra concert with special guest Dan Yu (BM ’97, MM ’99, harp) Concert will be dedicated to Mary Walker and Lynn Taylor Hebden ($7.50 per ticket).
- 8:00 pm: Flute Degree Recital - Grace Wang/Piccinini (Griswold Hall) Alumni are welcome to attend
- 10:00 pm (approximate): Post concert reception sponsored by the Society of Peabody Alumni, Dining Hall - All audience members are invited to the reception, no reservation necessary
