Society of Peabody Alumni

The mission of the Peabody Chapter of the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association is to build and support a lifelong relationship between the Peabody Conservatory of Music and its former students. Through this relationship, the Association strengthens the school's ability to attract outstanding students and faculty, increases alumni participation and investment in the school, and promotes its mission and achievements around the world.

The Society works to fulfill its mission through activities that create community, support student life, reward excellence, and encourage lifelong learning.

Alumni Celebration and Reunions!

Why midweek in April? Opportunity!

There is no better time to “feel” the excitement and experience the Conservatory at the height of activity than mid-week in April. Below are some of the activities scheduled, more information will be coming out in January.

TUESDAY, April 16, 2013

  • 9:00 am - 8:00 pm -- Alumni Welcome Table in the Visitor's Center 17, East Mount Vernon Place. Informal campus tours will be available all day long, there will be a list of recitals, open classes, open rehearsals and Peabody t-shirts for sale.
  • 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm -- A Pig Roast in the Plaza. All you can eat buffet including lemonade, sweet tea and a we'll have a keg of Natty Boh ($25 per person). 
  • 8:00 pm -- Peabody Trio concert in Friedberg Hall ($7.50 per ticket).

WEDNESDAY, April 17, 2013

  • 9:00 am - 8:00 pm -- Alumni Welcome Table in the Visitor's Center 17, East Mount Vernon Place. Informal campus tours will be available all day long, there will be a list of recitals, open classes, open rehearsals and Peabody t-shirts for sale.
  • 10:00 am - 11:30 am -- Formal Tour of Campus for Alumni (starting at the Welcome Table in the Visitor's Center)
  • 12:00 - 2:00 pm -- Reunion lunch at the Peabody Court Hotel with special tributes to those celebrating their 40th (classes of 1972, 1973) and 50th (classes of 1962, and 1963) AND presentation of the Peabody Alumni Achievement Award Recognizing Outstanding Contributions to Music in Maryland to Frances Motyca Dawson (TC ‘61, BM ‘62, Piano; MM ’67, Choral Conducting) and John Barry Talley (MM ’67, DMA ’83, Choral Conducting) with help from a previous winner of this award, Ray Sprenkle, ’70, ’71, ’79. ($30 per person).
  • 3:00 - 4:00 pm -- Special Lecture by Peabody Faculty member Andrew Talle on the lives of musicians in the 1700’s, when Bach and Mozart were alive. Find out how different or similar their training and careers were to musicians working today! (Griswold Hall -- formerly called North Hall)
  • 4:00 - 5:30 pm -- Reception in Memory of Mary Walker (TC '34, Piano), Bank of America Lounge.
  • 8:00 pm -- Peabody Symphony Orchestra concert with special guest Dan Yu (BM ’97, MM ’99, harp) ($7.50 per ticket).
